A statue or statuette of the Holy Family is an ideal gift for a wedding or a wedding anniversary, 10 years or silver wedding anniversary. In the difficult times we live in, where the family, the fundamental cell of society, is attacked from all sides, it is important that families who wish to be faithful to God's plan put themselves under the protection of the Holy Family of Nazareth. A statue of the Holy Family standing in the prayer corner of the house will remind the whole family of a model to follow and draw on them the very powerful help of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
We may be surprised that the family of Nazareth is presented as a model for families, because we can rightly wonder if Mary and Joseph were really married because they had made vow of virginity.
To answer this question clearly, it should be noted that in marriage, there are two perfections:
the first which consists in the indissoluble union of spirits, by which each spouse undertakes to maintain an inviolable faith in his spouse; between Mary and Joseph, there was this union and fidelity up to a very high degree, as much as it could be here bellow. The love that united Mary and Joseph was both a truly genuine spousal and virginal love, a symbol of the union of Christ and the Church. Thus from this point of view there was a real marriage between Mary and Joseph; it is an eminent model to offer to all families.
As for the second perfection, which is fulfilled by the carnal union that begets children, the marriage of Mary and Joseph was not consummated. On this respect, the duty of the education of children was nevertheless fulfilled, because we recognize Jesus as the true son of Mary and legal son of Joseph who both provided for his education.
Therefore, in the marriage of Mary and Joseph we find the three essential elements of Christian marriage: fidelity, offspring , and love.
